PLATEAU FLAT UPDATED

Living in an apartment rental, my client with a modest budget wished to update her home office / living room.
The living / dining rooms were long overdue for a complete repaint. She had many objet d’art scattered around the apartment. Antique elements had to be part of the new décor. A warm, inviting and coherent design was top on the list.
The sunny yellow walls dating from the early 2000s were replaced with Benjamin Moore Seashell White OC-120 with a satin finish. Ogees were painted Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace OC-65, also satin finish. The ceiling was painted flat white.
A small Moroccan-inspired area carpet was used to ground the room’s furniture. An Ikea chair with removable cover was added to give contrast to the existing antique furniture. Ideal because of its small size and removable cover, the natural color was chosen to lend contrast to the rest of the elements and to add some light to the décor.
The bookshelves and the antique desk were decluttered. The two existing wall sconces were sealed. A frosted floral swirl ceiling pendant and the client’s Art Deco antique desk light took their place, lending more ambience to the room.
Blood red curtains with a tonal jacquard motif were used to frame the patio door.
